Special Collections
Collections are created in ProductBuilder on Silverchair. These instructions are modified from the User Guide on the Silverchair site (https://www.silverchair.com/user-guides/productbuilder/). (images to come)
CREATE A COLLECTION PRODUCT
Click Create New Product
Enter a Product Code. This value may not be changed after it is set by the publisher.

The product name should be the Title of the Collection.
This value can be changed at any time, but that will change the URL of the collection (! .
Select the Product Type “Collection”
Click Submit
EDIT PRODUCT NAME
The product name will also appear on the collection page and in the index as the title, and will also determine the collection URL.
The Product Name field can be changed at any time depending on the publisher needs. Please note that editing the product name will change the URL of the collection, which may impact user ability to access the collections at a later date if the the collection URL has been sent out in publisher communications.
Enter desired text or remove text in the Edit Product Name field
EDIT ACTIVE DATE
By default, the Active Date is set to the current day when creating a new product. When a rule is active, the content will be included in the collection on the front end site.
Click on the Edit ActiveDate field to pull up the calendar view for the current month
Use the Prev and Next buttons to change the month and year

IS FREE
By default, the “Is Free” checkbox is not checked when creating a Collection. However, this checkbox can be checked to make the Collection free. By checking “Is Free” all content defined in the Product Rule will be free to all users.
Check the Is Free checkbox to make the collection free
Uncheck the Is Free checkbox so the collection requires a subscription
MEMBERSHIP CODE (RUP does not use this)
When a membership code is set for a product, all content defined in the product is available to the users who have that membership. There is no subscription needed as the validation of the membership for the user is handled via a client or publisher API.
Click the drop down named select a membership
Choose a membership from the list
Please note that this feature is not used by most publishers and requires a customization to the publisher site. If you are interested in a customization to use this feature, please reach out to your DPD.
COLLECTION TYPE (RUP only uses "Special Collection"
To change the collection type or add a new collection type, use the Collection Type selector on the product page.
When a piece of content belongs to a collection, and the publisher site is configured to display collection labels on content pages, the collection type displays as a label on the content page, followed by the collection name, and the collection name links to the containing collection page.
Some publishers may desire the ability to group collections onto unique Collection Browse pages based on the collection type. If you are interested in this feature, it can be done as a customization. Please reach out to your CSx team for more information.
IS COLLECTION
By default, the “Is Collection” checkbox is checked when creating an Collection product. However, this checkbox can be unchecked to make the Collection product into an Entitlement product.
See ProductBuilder – Entitlement Products if you want to continue with the product as an Entitlement product.
FEATURED COLLECTION
By default, the “Featured Collection” checkbox is unchecked when creating an Collection product. RUP only has 2 active for each Journal at any time. As a rule, Check Featured Collection during the run of the carousel, and then uncheck the older of the currently Featured collection.
When this checkbox is checked, the collection is considered a “featured collection”. Featured collections will show up on the collections browse page under a “Featured Collections” heading at the top of the page, and other collections will be populated under an “All collections” heading. Featured collections will inherit the sorting of the page (alphabetically or by date).

COLLECTION URL
Product pages for collections display the front-end URL for that collection. This feature makes it easy to directly link to and share products that have a front-end URL, even before the collection exists online. Before sharing this URL make sure you add the Journal it is for between "rupress.org/" and "collection/" so it will link to the correct journal and not the the umbrella collection page (which is not visible to the public).
So, this URL would be changed to "https://rupress.org/jem/collection/21424/JEM-Mucosal-Immunology-2022"
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Descriptions must be encoded in HTML in order to display formatting on the frontend (paragraph breaks, italics, bold, symbols, etc…).
Replace the default text with the desired description, formatted in HTML, example below…
<p>Every year, <em>Silverchair</em> hosts Silverchair Forum and Platform Strategies <a href=”https://www.silverchair.com/events/”>Silverchair Events</a>.</p>
IS REDEEMABLE
This option allows users to redeem a subscription via the front end site. This feature is not meant to be used to create an entitlement for each user; multiple users can have this same product. RUP does not use this featurd. Do not check this box!
DO NOT Check the Is Redeemable checkbox
Now you will CREATE/EDIT PRODUCT RULE
Set the product rule Solr query to select a content set for the product.
