Sometimes it is necessary to withdraw an accepted manuscript prior to publication based on preflight findings or other issues. Below are the necessary steps.
In JPS, withdraw the manuscript
In EJP, use the AMT “withdraw manuscript.” The decision updates from accept to “simple withdraw” but keeps all correspondence in the emails tab and keeps all editorial notes.
Withdrawal will trigger signals to OAS/STM updating the status of the article to withdrawn.
For post-publication retractions, you should only add a sticky note to the submission stating that it was retracted. Do not withdraw.
For both instances, correspondence should be forwarded to the journal email loader for the accepted version.
